Samsung may have a surprise for you – one related to the release date of the phone. Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s announcement is right around the corner, the company will introduce this flagship phablet on August 23, and the phone’s pricing has just surfaced.
This information comes from China, and it seems like these prices will be valid in China, presuming that the info is accurate. Now, if the source is to be believed, Samsung will introduce three Galaxy Note 8 variants, all three of which will have 6GB of RAM, but will ship with different storage setups.
The most affordable Galaxy Note 8 variant will come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage, and it will cost 6,288 Yuan ($941) in China, according to the provided info. The middle-of-the-road model will also sports 6GB of RAM, but will include 128GB of storage, while the most expensive unit will come with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The last two units will be priced at 7,088 Yuan ($1,061) and 7,988 Yuan ($1,196), respectively.
Now, as you can see, the Galaxy Note 8 will, allegedly, be quite expensive in China, though this is not all that surprising, considering that this is Samsung’s flagship we’re talking about here, and the fact that Samsung’s devices are usually more expensive in China than in other markets.
This also means that the phone’s pricing structure will be different in the US, you’ll be able to purchase the Galaxy Note 8 for less cash, though it is still unknown if all three variants will be released in the US or not. Keep in mind that this is just a rumor, nothing has been confirmed just yet, so who knows if these price points will be valid in China or not.
According to the report published by Android Police, A new ad has surfaced on Weibo (Chinese social network), and it seems like this is a leaked ad for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Now, this ad is not for the Chinese markets, as there’s some Korean writing in it, so it will probably be aired in Korea as soon as the phone launches. This short video ad seemingly confirms one really important feature of the Galaxy Note 8 that has been talked about recently, a telephoto lens.
At one point in this video, a kid is looking at a robotic toy in some sort of a shop, and in the next frame the background gets blurred out, while leaving that toy in focus. This suggests that the Galaxy Note 8’s camera setup will be able to capture images with a nice bokeh effect, and a telephoto lens will probably be included next o a regular RGB sensor, as it is more or less required in order to achieve a proper bokeh effect.
Now, several rumors surfaced recently, suggesting that the Galaxy Note 8 will ship with a telephoto lens, and this ad more or less confirmed that. Such a lens will not only allow the Galaxy Note 8 to capture better bokeh effect, but it will also provide a user with an option to zoom in optically, a 2x optical zoom feature is expected to be included in the Galaxy Note 8, which is something we’ve seen in a number of smartphones thus far, including the iPhone 7 Plus, Xiaomi Mi 6, and so on.
At the very end of this commercial, August 23 is once again mentioned as the release date for the phone, and you will also notice Samsung’s slogan below that date, “Do bigger things”. That is pretty much all the info that this ad provided for us, but thanks to a number of rumors and leaks, we have plenty of info when it comes to the Galaxy Note 8.
According to the leaked info, the Galaxy Note 8’s main camera will offer an f/1.7 aperture, and it will also ship with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be made out of metal and glass, just like the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. The device will sport a 6.3-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display, while it will pack in a battery that is larger than 3,000mAh. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC will fuel the device in some regions, while the Exynos 8895 will be in charge of doing that in other markets.
The Galaxy Note 8 will pack in 6GB of RAM, and if today’s rumor is to be believed, Samsung will release 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variants of the device. Android 7.1.1 Nougat will come pre-installed on the Galaxy Note 8, while the company’s Experience UI will be applied on top of it. The Galaxy Note 8 will feature a dual camera setup on the back, and it will also be IP68 certified.
