OnePlus fans remember the way those who purchased the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X were treated when they asked the Chinese company to provide them with the Android 7.0 Nougat update.
Things could have probably been different if OnePlus would have said these two smartphones will stay on Android Marshmallow in the first place. Well, it looks like the company has learned from its mistakes and is now communicating with its fan base more often than not.
Since many customers who purchased the OnePlus 3, 3T and 5 are wondering if they will be treated the same way OnePlus 2 and X owners were treated, the Chinese company has decided to come forward with an official statement and reveal its plans regarding the software roadmap.
OnePlus’ Head of Product confirmed recently that the OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive the highly-anticipated Android O update at some point, but that will be the last major OS update these two smartphones will get.
Android O is going to be the last Android version update we’ll release for OP3/3T. We’ll continue to release security patch updates for the foreseeable future, and offer support for individual application updates. After the OP3/3T have been updated to Android O, we’ll start moving the Open Beta Program from OP3/3T to OP5.
However, if you’ve bought the OnePlus 5, then you can expect to receive one more Android OS update next year after Google releases it.
