Huawei P11 Rumored To Have A Triple-Lens 40 MP Rear Camera Setup With 5X Hybrid Zoom & A 24 MP Selfie Camera

A new leak suggests that Huawei may be hard at work on a beastly camera setup for the next entries in its flagship P-series. Well, this is exciting. In a tweet published by leaker Evan Blass earlier today, it was suggested that the next device in Huawei’s P series may feature a triple-lens, 40 MP rear camera setup with 5x hybrid zoom and a 24 MP selfie camera.

All of this information comes from a digital artist at one of the company’s creative agencies, who added the promotional materials you can see below to their portfolio. Interestingly, they have since been pulled and aren’t available in the original location anymore – that may be a sign of these materials’ importance or legitimacy. It’s impossible to tell for sure at the moment, so do take this with an ever so slight pinch of salt.

Huawei was one of the early adopters in the recent dual-camera trend, introducing this setup with the Huawei P9 in April 2016. This camera also co-developed with Leica, who Huawei has partnered with for its major flagships’ camera tech ever since. The new Leica-branded optics of the main camera will capture 100% more light and a Pro Night Mode will ensure you “shoot gorgeous night scenes” without a tripod.

In fact, one of the leaked images specifically touts a “Pro AI camera assist feature,” capable of things like “scene recognition” and “auto framing.” We don’t know what this entails exactly, but it is possible that Huawei’s AI-powered tech might be capable of processing images on a per-scene basis, depending on what you’re photographing, by cross-referencing your shot to a pre-existing database of other images and applying suitable changes automatically.

A slightly baffling detail in these marketing materials, which you may have noticed already, is the “Huawei PCE Series” branding. Huawei’s VP of Smartphones, recently said that the firm will “probably” launch all future flagships at Mobile World Congress, so there’s a chance the P11 will be announced at the event, which will take place in late-February.
