LG has just confirmed that Android Oreo will start rolling out to the LG G6 units in Korea on April 30. It is worth saying that not all G6 consumers will get this update straight away, as we’re looking at a staged rollout here.
This announcement follows LG’s new about opening its first Software Upgrade Center in South Korea, which is aimed at providing faster updates for the company’s smartphones. Back then, LG did confirm that Android Oreo is coming to the G6 soon, but the company was unable to provide us with the exact date, until now.
That being said, the company has also confirmed that the update will become rolling out to the LG G5 and V20 in the near future as well, as those two devices are next in line to get it.
LG also confirmed that some of the V30S ThinQ’s features will be added to the G6 as well in the future, and those are almost probably camera-related AI features, because those were the main additions for the V30S ThinQ.
It is still unknown when will the global release of the G6 Oreo update begin, but chances are LG will start pushing out that update on a global scale soon as well, quite probably in May.
