OnePlus has temporarily disabled credit card payments on oneplus.net. A poll post on the OnePlus forum by an individual discussing recent fraudulent attempts made on two of their credit cards.
The forum user states that the only place both cards were used was on the OnePlus website in November 2017, they go on to ask whether other members of the community have had the same issue.
As result, Many customers had experienced the same problem, said they had discovered fraudulent transactions on their cards after making a purchase from OnePlus.
Now, the company says:
“As a precaution, we are temporarily disabling credit card payments at oneplus.net. PayPal is still available, and we are exploring alternative secure payment options with our service providers.”
Further OnePlus added, the company uses to safeguard users’ payment information, including sharing data over encrypted connections.
OnePlus says the site is undergoing a complete audit in order to look for such potential faults. “Information security is a very serious topic, and it has always been one of our top priorities,” said the company. The smartphone maker says customers who are affected by fraud should contact their bank immediately to initiate a chargeback.
According to Fidus, there is a brief window “in which malicious code is able to siphon credit card details before the data is encrypted.”
