An Android 8.0 Oreo OTA build for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has leaked online. Redditor mweinbach discovered a link to the update on Samsung’s servers. Only the Verizon variant of the Note 8 as received it so far.
Several users reporting that the update is functional, but unstable when using certain apps. In order to flash the leaked Android Oreo beta, mweinbach notes that Snapdragon Note 8 users have to update to Samsung’s official Nougat-based 2BQK2 firmware. Notably, the leaked firmware update (N950USQU2CQL1) appears to be an early test build based on the final version and not a beta build.
The leaked build is only compatible with the US version of Samsung’s phablet that is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC (SM-N950U). It also requires the device to already be running firmware version N950USQS2BQK2.
Note: If you’re planning to give it a go, be forewarned that the Oreo beta’s likely unstable and might cause crashes.
